Head over to the recruiting board for those of you that don't check it often...

“Position-wise, he’s a ‘3’ or ‘4’ guy. He can play the wing, he can be a great stretch-4 for a lot of college programs that like a big guy that can step out and shoot the ball, run pick-and-roll, go off the dribble. He can be a very special guy. He can be a key contributor as soon as he steps on campus. He’s got the potential to be a guy that leaves his mark on a program for several years to come.”
Sounds like a winner. Also like that he is a great student.

BIG Redbird nation welcome to you Demontay!! Congrats on your decision to don a Redbird uni and help the birds continue on their road to national prominence...cool 8-)

Looks like the 2018 recruiting class is shaping up to be a dandy. What's the rest of the scholly situation....do we still have one more to give?

Know without Copeland the team may be a bit shorthanded, but we still have a ton of gifted players that can compete for a MVC championship this season. Really looking forward to see how the team develops over the season. Got my season tix and am fired up for another excellent season of hoops...ooo yeah!

GO YOU REDBIRDS!

If you say Copeland still has a scholarship, we have zero for next year. If he doesn't, we have 1. If we have zero and Zion decides this is the place for him, someone is getting taken off scholarship. We all know who it should be but it will likely be Gassman. (This is also foolishly assuming we have no defects after this season.)

You really think HCDM would remove Gassman from scholarship I don't feel like he or the university would do that to a student athlete only my opinion.

Man. We need a Six Sigma Blackbelt to get our defects down.

Played last season with a torn labrum. Had surgery after first AAU tourney this spring. Could be a case where Birds benefit by colleges not getting a chance to see Demontay play much. Hoping he stays healthy this season and comes here with a chip on his . . . well . . . labrum . . .

As long as there are no chips IN his labrum. That is one tricky body part to fix - death to the careers of many a baseball pitcher...

If Muller presented it as a one year scholarship that he must earn to keep, then yes. If he offered it has a 4 year scholarship and Gassman doesn't earn it, he will have a sit down with him like he probably had with Andre and D.J. last season.

I thought DJ and Andre situation was totally different from playing I thought both violated team rules and DJ simply refused to accept his punishment in April and choose to quit I had no idea that he cut them for ability to play to stay on scholarship. Thanks for the info

I didn't realize Andre broke team rules .... I thought it was more ability and playing time.

I never heard anything about either breaking team rules. I could be wrong. Same with Elvis Harvey the year prior and Jamal Samuel the year before that. Seems like very year we have a guy who doesn't quite cut it here find a new home. Reading between the lines I think it's probably suggested by the coaching staff. As a matter of fact, Muller kind of alluded to this on one of the more recent WZND podcasts.

DJ .... 2 counts of theft under $500, and consumption of alcohol by minor. If there isn't a team rule on this, there should be.

BTW ... Welcome Demontay!
